About Jomfru Ane Gade !

Today I would like to talk about one of the most famous street in Alborg… Jomfru Ane Gade of course! Every week-end, especially on Fridays evening, Alborg students usually come here. Actually Jomfru is well known for one of the Danish streets where there are the most bars and nightclubs gathered in the same street! So now a bit of History…

In the 16^th Century, Jomfru was a native seller street. According to believes, Ane Viffert, who was a nun, used to live on Skavegade close to Jomfru. A long time after, the first restaurant, the Gaslight, was opened in May 1967. Thanks to its success, another one opened, and so one and so one… In 1992, there were 26 pubs and restaurants. Today… I  don’t know, but it might be approximately the same thing; if you want I’ll count next time how many pubs there are (I’m just kidding).

The prices of restaurants and bars are enough cheap, even if it’s more expensive than French bars anyway (we’re in Denmark; don’t forget the cost of living is very high!).  

One of my favourite bars is the Nielsen’s bar, situated in front of the Zwei Gross bar (another good one!). Just a little story: I went to this bar two times alone so far (yes ALONE, I’m not kidding…), in order to meet some people, and I haven’t regretted. Indeed I met Danish people, we have known each other and I will keep in touch with some of them, maybe to meet each other again. Thus I discovered another spots like The Gap which is a famous nightclub in Aalborg. So finally I enjoy when I go out alone too! But don’t worry, I’m not unsociable! I often come there with my foreign friends.
