Hello everyone!
Today I’ll present you our university, the University College of Denmark
(UCN).
It’s a recent building situated in the Aalborg’s suburb. Every day excepted
during the week-end, we usually walk by foot for twenty minutes to go there. We
often have courses from 8:30 (am) to 11:45 (am) and the afternoon is often
free. However we sometimes have lessons in the afternoon from 12:15 to 3:30
(pm).
Into the university, there is a library, but the problem is there are not a
lot of English books there. But I think the main advantage in the UCN is that we
can book some “working boxes” to work quietly; those
boxes owns a table, chairs and a TV screen in order to project the computer
screen.
At midday we can eat in the cafeteria, but the best day to lunch is on
Fridays because there is a brunch with sausages, pancakes and eggs. Thus I
think it’s a good canteen because we have a large choice of different things.
However we always pay according to the weight, so we have to be careful because
the price could be very expensive! Moreover I sometimes take a hot chocolate
(it costs 10 DK) when we have a break between two courses.
A typical English lunch in Aalborg ? No... We're just on Friday ! |
About the courses, there is a lot of interaction between the teacher and
the students. Also we have some assignments (it’s like short exercises) and we
can work on it in group: I think it’s very efficient to improve our English because
we always talk with foreign students in order to succeed the assignment. On the
other hand we have to work on a project in order to validate ECTS credits; the
subject is about sustainability, energy and transport. It’s an elective project and for the
exam we’re going to have an oral examination. You can click on this link for more details about our sustainable project.
See you soon !
Olivier.
